Variety: John 16v33

‘I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.’ JOHN 16:33
 
‘Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honour and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!’ (Revelation 7:12)

The act of rejoicing is something quite different from naïve optimism. It is not subject to the ups and downs of the circumstances of our lives. In fact, Jesus warns that in this world we will have trouble. Rejoicing is based on the spiritual knowledge that God has overcome the world in Jesus.
