Heavenly Father
give us grace to open our hearts to you today so that we may live in peace
20 Leave Babylon! [The place where Israel went into exile]
Flee from the Chaldeans! [The new power who will return Israel to their own land]
With a voice of singing announce this,
tell it even to the end of the earth:
say, “Yahweh has redeemed his servant Jacob!”
21 They didn’t thirst when he led them through the deserts. [Remembering back to when Israel left Egypt to go to their own land]
He caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them.
He also split the rock and the waters gushed out.
22 “There is no peace”, says Yahweh, “for the wicked.” [The Wicked being not only the Godless Babylonians but also God’s people, whether Jewish or Christian, who turn away from him]
